ecj software package provides standalone version of the Eclipse Java compiler, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.10 (Yakkety Yak) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install ecj
ecj is installed in your system.
Make ensure the ecj package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep ecj *
You will get with ecj package name, version, architecture and description in a table
