dvdrip-utils software package provides perl front end for transcode and ffmpeg (tools), you can install in your Ubuntu 16.10 (Yakkety Yak) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install dvdrip-utils
dvdrip-utils is installed in your system.
Make ensure the dvdrip-utils package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep dvdrip-utils *
You will get with dvdrip-utils package name, version, architecture and description in a table
