dv4l software package provides Redirect V4L API to access a camcorder from a V4L program, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.10 (Yakkety Yak) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install dv4l
dv4l is installed in your system.
Make ensure the dv4l package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep dv4l *
You will get with dv4l package name, version, architecture and description in a table
