dfu-util software package provides Device firmware update (DFU) USB programmer, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.10 (Yakkety Yak) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install dfu-util
dfu-util is installed in your system.
Make ensure the dfu-util package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep dfu-util *
You will get with dfu-util package name, version, architecture and description in a table
