dar software package provides Disk ARchive: Backup directory tree and files, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.10 (Yakkety Yak) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install dar
dar is installed in your system.
Make ensure the dar package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep dar *
You will get with dar package name, version, architecture and description in a table
