auto-apt software package provides package search by file and on-demand package installation tool, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.10 (Yakkety Yak) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install auto-apt
auto-apt is installed in your system.
Make ensure the auto-apt package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep auto-apt *
You will get with auto-apt package name, version, architecture and description in a table
