charmap.app-common software package provides Character map for GNUstep (arch-independent files), you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install charmap.app-common
charmap.app-common is installed in your system.
Make ensure the charmap.app-common package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep charmap.app-common *
You will get with charmap.app-common package name, version, architecture and description in a table
