cdrom-detect software package provides Detect CDROM devices and mount the CD, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install cdrom-detect
cdrom-detect is installed in your system.
Make ensure the cdrom-detect package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep cdrom-detect *
You will get with cdrom-detect package name, version, architecture and description in a table
