boinc software package provides metapackage for the BOINC client and the manager, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install boinc
boinc is installed in your system.
Make ensure the boinc package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep boinc *
You will get with boinc package name, version, architecture and description in a table
