aosd-cat software package provides an on screen display tool which uses libaosd, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install aosd-cat
aosd-cat is installed in your system.
Make ensure the aosd-cat package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep aosd-cat *
You will get with aosd-cat package name, version, architecture and description in a table
