ceph-mds software package provides metadata server for the ceph distributed file system, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install ceph-mds
ceph-mds is installed in your system.
Make ensure the ceph-mds package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep ceph-mds *
You will get with ceph-mds package name, version, architecture and description in a table
