binutils-gold software package provides GNU gold linker utility, you can install in your Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Precise Pangolin) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install binutils-gold
binutils-gold is installed in your system.
Make ensure the binutils-gold package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep binutils-gold *
You will get with binutils-gold package name, version, architecture and description in a table
