bash-completion software package provides programmable completion for the bash shell, you can install in your Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Precise Pangolin) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install bash-completion
bash-completion is installed in your system.
Make ensure the bash-completion package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep bash-completion *
You will get with bash-completion package name, version, architecture and description in a table
